Generally speaking, if a defendant does not appear in court at a scheduled trial / hearing, the plaintiff wins.

In legal speak, the court must have both "jurisdiction" over the person / action and a case must be filed in the appropriate place or venue. Ordinarily, suit can be filed where the defendant lives or works. If the case involves a claim for possession of real property, suit can also be filed where the property is located.

If a plaintiff files in the wrong venue, the defendant can file a motion to dismiss and/or to change the venue.

While the above is not legal advice or an analysis of your specific situation, I hope the general information helps. You may wish to seek legal representation for any pending court case and/or go to one of the district court pro se help clinics for help selecting and filling out appropriate court forms.
