Legal Question in Traffic Law in Maryland
I was charged with "Fleeing and Attempting to Elude a Police Officer" in Maryland and have already gone through the court proceedings.
The outcome was a $300 fine (in addition to court fees) as well as 72 hours community service. I am being proactive about this and have already paid off all my fines/fees and am doing the community service every week on my day off until I am completed.
1. Is this a criminal charge? Or how does this show up on my record?
2. After paying the fine and completing service, what are the chances of getting the charges "lessened" or dropped?
3. After that, how will the record look on the MVA?
1 Answer from Attorneys
There should be a citation to either the Criminal Law Article (CR) or the Transportation Article (TR). The MVA assesses points for guilty findings for traffic offenses. You may request modification of your sentence by filing a written request with the. Clerk of court within 90 days of your sentencing.
