Legal Question in Traffic Law in Maryland

Driving with suspended license (Maryland)

I have a court date tomorrow on charges of driving with a suspended license -- not a suspension because of DUI/DWI or anything like that, but because I had an outstanding and unpaid ticket for an expired registration (as soon as I found out, I immediately paid that fine and got my license back). I was never notified that my license had been suspended. What is my likely punishment going to be?

Re: Driving with suspended license (Maryland)

For a first offense, likely a fine only, but this depends on where you are going to court, which judge, etc. You might consider getting some legal advice before deciding to go without a lawyer. These charges carry 1 year jail/$1000/12 points maximums. If you were never notified that you were suspended, a lawyer may get these charges dropped, and you wouldn't have to suffer any punishment.
