Legal Question in Traffic Law in Maryland

I received a red light camera citation on 1/11/11. I promptly requested a hearing and received a letter from Baltimore City that my request for a trail on citation was received on 1/2411. To date 5/27/11,no trial date has been set. Has my right to a speedy trial expired?

Probably not yet. Speedy trial is the court's judgement call whether the state has taken too long and prejudiced your ability to defend the case. A year and two weeks has been held too long in a DUI case. Keep monitoring your case on Maryland CaseSearch, but I would not contact the court or the police, because the delay works to your advantage. You would not want to cause them to fix their clerical error, if that's what it is. If it reflects a failure to appear, that is another matter.
