Some estate attorneys charge by the hour in which case it depends on how many hours are spent meeting, drafting documents and reviewing. An attorney with an hourly rate of $400 will likely cost more than an attorney with an hourly rate of $200 if work is billed hourly. Estate planning should include a conversation to figure out what your particular needs and goals are.

Some firms charge a flat fee. My firm, for instance, offers flat fees for most wills (with a schedule on the firm's website) for an attorney meeting, preparing a "simple" will, reviewing/witnessing at the office and filing with the Register of Wills.
