Legal Question in Workers Comp in Maryland

Hurt without pay

I hurt my back at work, require surgery to fix it. I just filed claim in june06. It keeps getting postponed and I haven't seen a penny since june of 06. It's now almost the end of Nov06. What can I do if anything. I don't feel like my lawyer is a help to me and I'm struggling to pay my bills as it is. How long can it take to go to trial? I don't know if I should find another lawyer and fire mine or just wait it out.

Re: Hurt without pay

Unless there is an issue as to your ability to work, you should be receiving temporary total disability benefits. Normally hearings seeking this are scheduled fairly quickly because the worker is obviously without resources. I suggest you contact your lawyer and find out why it's taking so long to get a hearing.
