Re: Credit card default
Well, most likely, you will first get letters from the creditor directly notifying you that you are delinquent. You will probably be charged late fees and interest on the outstanding balance. At some point, they will probably turn your account over to a collections agency. They will send you letters and demands for payments. The debt will probably be reported to credit bureaus and it will show up on your credit report as a delinquent debt. If they deem it worthwhile, at some point they could decide to sue you for the outstanding amounts. If they get a judgment against you, you could be liable for the amount of the debt, collection costs and attorneys fees. At that point, if you still do not pay, they can attempt to garnish your wages, attach a lien to any property you owe or even seek execution against personal property (taking your stuff and selling it). That's a worst-case scenario. It could be different based on your particular situation.
