Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts

I defaulted on a crdit card around 1996. I did not hear anything until 2008. Then a debt collection company filed a supplementary process against after they got a default judment for approx 8000. They original bill was around 2000. Between those years I never heard anything and nothing was on my credit report. What to do now. I was going to file to have the default removed and try to get the case dismissed . Any suggestions
