Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts

My elderly mother co-signed a student loan for my daughter which she later defaulted on, leaving my mother with just under $18,000 owed. She and I are working to pay this. My daughter is of legal age. Is there any way to legally have her pay us back?

you could sue her to have the funds repayed.
