Father's rights

My son and his ex-girlfriend have an infant daughter who lives with the great grandmother. They are refusing to let him take or see the baby. They say ask the mother, who says no. There has been no legal custody to anyone. He lives with his sister and her family and wants to bring the baby there to live. Can he demand the child?I

First your son must establish his legal status through an acknowledgement of paternity with the Probate and Family Court Under the paternity action he may demand visitation and custody rights. It would be highly recommended that he have legal representation at any paternity hearing.
