Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Legal age of a child

My son is 16 and 6 months.

His father and I have joint custody with his father having Physical custody.

His father is remarried and he and his wife agree that he can no longer visit or talk to me.

What is the legal age for him to become an adult??

I am wondering if I should persue this further or wait till he becomes of legal age.

Re: Legal age of a child

If you have joint legal custody you should have the right to visit and speak to your son. You can file an action for contempt against you ex. In all likelihood the Court would appoint a Family Service GAL to speak with your son, if your son had no concrete legal reason not to have contact with you the Court would order continued visits.
