Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts
Paternity after the death of the father
My mother and father were never
married, and my father refused to
acknowledge me. He died several
years ago, and although I am not
interested in the estate, I would like
to know if I have any standing to
require a DNA test of one of his
children to prove paternity. I am
only looking for some genealogical
information, but they have been
unwilling to answer my requests.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Paternity after the death of the father
I am not aware of any case in which this has been allowed. If you feel strongly enough about this, you should engage an attorney to research the issue and consider filing an action.
