Legal Question in Immigration Law in Massachusetts

I have been married to a US citizen wife for 1 year now. I have temporary green card. I want to sponsor my 11 year old daughter that I had with my girlfriend a long time ago. Would my wife be able to sponsor my child so it would be faster than if I did it myself?

Hi,

It is much faster if your wife (the U.S. citizen stepmother) files an immigrant petition for your daughter, as the daughter was under 18 at time of your marriage.

You can call our law firm at 212-268-3580 if you have questions, or email [email protected]

Wife's petition (as a step-parent) would be much faster.

You, as a lawful permanent resident father can also petition for your child, but it will take several years.

If your daughter living abroad with her mother, she will need a permission from her mother to emigrate to USA.
