Legal Question in Immigration Law in Massachusetts
I have been doing a research project in Ukraine for the past six years and I have spent more than half my time there. I met a Ukrainian woman about four years ago and we had a son together who is now 2 years old. I obtained our sons USA passport and his social security number. His mother and I have been living together for about 3 1/2 years. Neither she or our son have been to the USA.
She was recently denied a travel visa. They stated that her denial was because they felt that she had many reasons not to return to Ukraine.
I would like to bring her over here and get married and am wondering what type of visa I should apply for: a Fiance Visa or a Spousal or Family Visa. We tried to get married in Ukraine, but the officials wanted a lot of bribe money and we expected a lot of delays and further requests for bribes, etc., since I am American.
Also, my girlfriend has been blind since birth and she is 28 years old, whereas I am in my 60s. Would that be a basis for denial of a fiance visa? Would it be better if we married in Ukraine first and I applied for a spousal or family visa? Do you have any suggestions on how to proceed?

Hello:
There are at least a few options. One of them is to apply for a Fiancee visa, and another is to get married in Ukraine and apply for an Immigrant visa as a spouse of a US citizen. If the US embassy in Kyev, Ukraine, still allows direct consular filing, the latter options would be the most convenient and cheap.
