Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts

My girlfriend works at a beauty spa on commision. The owner takes dicount coupons out of her part of her commision. The girls who work hourly do not have to pay for the discount out of thier pay. Can the owner do this?

Let's say your girlfriend is entitled to a 40% commission. If the owner paid her 40% percent of the price minus the discount, I don't see a problem with this, unless the owner had agreed otherwise. If the whole discount amount is deducted from her commision amount this would be illegal. If you have any questions please call me at 617-426-7400.
