Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts
I was recently terminated from a job, after giving my fingerprints TWICE. Once for pre-employment, and the second time being because they said the originals didn't go through. The second set of prints, they said, brought up two erroneous and quite reckless charges. Both were prior to my EVER having been to the state.
My question is...Does my former employer have an obligation to pay restitution for wrongly terminating me?

It is my understanding that, in Massachusetts, it is considered unlawful discrimination to fail to hire an employee on the basis of a misdemeanor charge that ends in dismissal. Your rights may depend on the nature of the charge and whether or not you were convicted. However, some federal regulated industries, such as the securities industry, may have varying requirements based on federal law.
