Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts

I worked at a small restaurant in Marblehead, MA. since July 2010 and last week they went out of business. I worked fri-mon nights every week. On Sunday (12.12.10) I worked my shift (430-930) and my boss was there to collect my receipts and cash. He didn't mention ONE THING about closing (and there were about 7 employees there that night). Next day (12.13.10) the restaurant apparently went bankrupt and closed for good.

Can a restaurant go out of business without telling their employees in advance? If so, how is that legal?

A small company can go out of business with out warning. However, it still must pay you all compensation earned. If it does not, the company, the president and treasurer owe you three times the amount plus cousel fees.
