Re: eviction

You probably received a Notice to Quit. A Notice to Quit must have certain elements by law or it is defective. A few minor spelling errors will not invalidate an otherwise valid Notice to Quit.

The only person who can legally evict you is the landowner. If the boyfriend is attempting to evict you, you might challenge his right to superior possession of the premises.

On the other hand, if they want you to move out, they have every right to remove you. You might want to get yourself together and move out of your own volition.

Re: eviction

If your mother is not standing up for you, it may be time for you to go, regardless of your conduct. Your problems run a little deeper than whether or not he has properly served a notice to quit.

If your mother is against this, she ought to be telling the boyfriend to go.
