Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Massachusetts
Landlord/Tenant
There has been a leak in the ceiling
for over ten days now. When I first
contacted the management
company, I was told nothing could be
done because it was the weekend.
Last week, two plumbers came by
and told me how they were going to
fix the problem. Never saw them
again. However, the management
company sent two other
maintenance people on Friday who
simply peeled off coats of paint at the
location of the leak and left. I've been
trying to get in touch with
management, but the secretary
won't let me through and the
voicemail I leave go unanswered.
What should I do? All this is in
addition to mail being stolen on a
regular basis (i.e. prescription drugs,
packages etc...), appliances that don't
work in the apartment itself and a
rent that costs over $2000/month.
Please help!

Re: Landlord/Tenant
send them a certified letter return receipt demanding repairs be completed within a reasonable period say one week for the roof and other times for other matters.
If after that period, they do not comply you have a variety of options including suing them in housing court.
