Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Massachusetts

I was sued by my old landlord for back rent and damages...When I moved he kept my deposit of 1500 and added another 300 to it for damages..The back rent was not my fault because I was on section 8 and the inspection for my new apt was not done until 3 weeks into the month I was suppose to move so the landlord charged me half of the 1500 rent, my portion was 88..I got back my deposit when the owner of my new apt got his lawyer to get the deposit back...Thats when he sued me after I got it back. He won and I am ordered to pay 40 a month.. I have two kids and I am on a fixed income I get disability from social security and I also receive welfare..I make 832 a month and by the time everything is paid I really dont have the 40 for him...I was told that because I am on disability I should not have to pay...Is this true also I did not got to court today for a payment checkup, honestly I didn't have the money and did not want to be humiliated like I was before, my old landlord is a real jerk..He is famous for doing this to his section 8 tenants who leave...I did not do any of the damages he claims the place was in horrible condition when I moved in and was in good condition when I left, I broke a few blinds but that did in no way cost 1800..Can u please tell me if I can possibly get this dropped?

Take an appeal if the time has not lapsed.

Otherwise don't pay and when you have to go to court to explain tell the court that you have no ability to pay.

Next time go to court with a lawyer.
