Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Massachusetts
Here goes... I'm temporarily staying at a relative's apartment. I had never spent the night there before, just stopping by for maybe a few hours, at most. Anyhow, I get back from work, park in front of the building, and go inside and eventually fall asleep. I wake up the next morning, get dressed, and step out the door to start my day, when I realize that the parking area out front has turned into a miniature lake. The water was at least 8 inches deep. Apparently, the storm drain is either defective, or poorly maintained. Other residents in the complex have told me this flooding has happened before, several times. It soaked the floor of my car, front and back, and my car had to be towed. The carpet had to be removed and deodorized, and an electrical component had to be replaced. About a dozen books that I had left in the car were also destroyed. So I had no car for about 2 1/2 weeks, the deductible was 500$, plus I rented a car for a few days, to the tune of 150$. What should I do?

File claims against the insurer for your relative, the tenant and the owner landlord, and bring suit if not paid. Good Luck!
report this to the town agent as if they are renting they must have a permit as required in most towns
