gravestones and plots
who legally owns a gravestone or a cemetery plot? The person who paid for it? the legal heirs? the person registered at the cemetery?

It is typically covered in the contract with the cemetery.
The person who paid may be in primary place to designate ownership, followed by the heirs of a deceased owner. Generally, plots cannot be sold or transferred without the permission of the cemetery, and they are not necessarily the same as a parcel of deeded land.
