Re: Need to probate will but don't live in Ma

If the amount is $15,000 or less, a voluntary executor petition can be filed in the Probate Court for the county in which she died for $62. If it is more than $15,000, the named executor will have to probate the will (in the same court), which is a little more involved, and will require publication. The filing fee is $70 plus $42 for the bond. Publication cost will depend on the newspaper. At least one account will need to be filed, and the fee will depend on the amount of the account.

You will need an attested copy of the death certificate and the original will in each case.

I do small estates in Worcester County for $500.
