Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Michigan
I am a landlord, I took a renter to court, evicted him, and received a money judgment, and received most of it. Now I received a letter from a lawyer that he (my former renter) has filed chapter 13 bankruptcy. I was told that I must pay back all the money that I received. Is this true?

Greetings; If the money was received in the 90 look back preference period, yes, you will have to give it back. You will receive some or all of the money you are owed through the chapter 13. You will want to be sure you file your claim for the money with the Chapter 13 Trustee in the proper time frame. If you have further questions, please contact me.
