Legal Question in Business Law in Michigan

pay cuts

I was told yesterday that I have to take a$4.00 an hour pay cut or loose my job. And that this takes affect Sunday of next week. Can they do this? They want me to sign a paper what happens if I refuse?

Re: pay cuts

If you are not a member of a labor union, this is permissable because this is employment at-will and as such it can be terminated by either party at any time. If you are a member of a union this modification to a labor contract must be ratified by the membership.

If you refuse, you probably will be laid off or terminated from your employment.

Re: pay cuts

assuming you are not in an employment contract or union, your failure to accept the cut will probably lead to your termination. Times are tough and you are an at-will employee. Visit www.kliszlaw.com to discuss. Tim Klisz
