Legal Question in Business Law in Michigan
Subpoena for computer and documents
I received a subpoena to produce documents and my computer for a lawsuit I am NOT a part of. They want my computer for a week!
I conduct the majority of my business on my computer, so to be without it for a week is ridiculous. Further, there is information on there very specific to my business that I do not want any competitors to see.
Finally, I do not have the time or the manpower to copy all the documents they are asking for, many of which have nothing to do with anyone in their lawsuit.
What are my options?

Re: Subpoena for computer and documents
The answer lies in the facts and circumstances of the case. As such, I cannot advise you further except to check with a competent attorney in your area. There are many aspects to civil procedure where the information may not be able to be obtained any other way than from your records. It very complicated very quickly. Obtain competent legal counsel.
Good luck!
