Legal Question in Construction Law in Michigan

Garage Roof

I signed a contract and gave a deposit to a company who verbally said they would start the work in 7 to 10 days. After I noiticed they wrote no start date on the contract. How long do I have to wait by law???

There is no set timeline, but I would contact a manager/supervisor and try to get a firm date from them, in writing. Once you talk to someone over the phone, send a confirming letter to the company indicating you talked to X on X date and he/she said the work would start within X days.

If they haven't started work within 20 days of the contract, you may want to have a lawyer give them a call to make sure they aren't jerking you around. If you need me to make a call or write a letter, please feel free to contact me. 248.644.8771, x 37.
