Legal Question in Consumer Law in Michigan
Billing for unauthorized purchase
After reopening our business June 25, 2002 after being closed for a 5 month remodel, one of our employees received a telephone call from a company requesting permission to send information. Our employee explained they were not authorized to make any financial business decisions and was told that they only wanted to send information for the owners review. On July 10, 2002, we received a large hardbound Business Publication with a listing for our company in it and a bill for $365. Firstly, how can a company publish a 1077 page hardbound book within 2 weeks and secondly how can a company expect payment for something that was not authorized or wanted by a manager or owner of that business? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Re: Billing for unauthorized purchase
The book was already printed when they called. Call the company and tell them you did not order this. Ask for return information. If they send you to collection, then you will have to have legal representation.
