Legal Question in Consumer Law in Michigan
On January 14th I leased a car and I gave the dealer a certified check for 1000$ he cut me a check for 500 told me to cash it and bring him back 500 .he informed me that I didn't get enough insurance so I got more was called by him and harrassed an insulted I was threated he sayed that the
financer wanted to bounce the contract , then he kept calling after I got more insurance claiming they might back out because my two jobs are not fulltime even though I work fulltime hours he calls me and says I'm unprofessional.and he criticized me whenever he called he invited me to his home I make excuses why I can't come over before he gave me the new car my excuse was no gas,to far, work etc.i make excuses because out of the three times I did visit his home he sexually assulted me.I asked him for the mailing address of the financer he told me that the financer would send it after they courtesy call to me.they called and then they didn't send it so the dealer said call them I did and they said they don't have an account in my name.so I told him and he says give him the payment and he will give it to them ,I did and now its time for me to make the next payment and he says bring him the payment and he will give the financer both payments and the contract admitting to me that he never did submit the contract when he gave me the car.I am concerned this person doesn't reguard my rights and I am upset by his insults and when I ask to Speak to his sulervisor he tells me he is out of town.

In Michigan once you sign for financing and drive off the lot you are financed by operation of law. The dealer must accept payments and you must pay the dealer in a timely manner but you should keep receipts and all evidence of payment. Also, do not leave any paperwork in the vehicle. Keep all evidence of sale and payments at home safe and sound.
You need to make sure this dealer is properly licensed. You have a right to demand certain information by law and you need to demand it in writing. Keep records of all communications and keep call logs of any discussions you have with him.
If the financing company rejected the paper it could be for any number of reasons, don't always believe what the dealer tells you. The assaults are a real issue as well. You need to verify your down payment to ensure it was part of the deal as well or did he pocket that perhaps.
