Legal Question in Consumer Law in Michigan

lein release of vehicle

I received the lein release for my vehicle from my previous lein holder, however I refinanced with another lender and they do not have thier lien on the title. I know it would be immoral, but could the current lein holder do anything legally if I sold the vehicle since I have the title free of the lein although I still actually owe on the loan?

Re: lein release of vehicle

You are right . . . it would be immoral and I would not even consider assisting in a plan to cheat the creditor who helped you out. I am a debtor's attorney, but I do not advocate that course of conduct. Keep in mind that even if there is no lien recorded on the title, there are other ways to record a lien and for the creditor to protect its purchase money security interest.
