Legal Question in Consumer Law in Michigan

Money LOST in Court System

Money was being held in account until my daughter turned 18. Attn. died in 1999 was just notified(June 2003)they said they couldn't find us even though we have lived in this town for all our lives and they had the right address. Now the court system wants to appoint a conservator and bla bla bla. instead of straighting out the mess they have made and charging her. Is there anything I can do?????

Re: Money LOST in Court System

It sounds as if the attorney who was handling the money for your daughter died? It is unclear from the facts you have provided. If your daughter is 18, she is entitled to the money unless the trust/arrangement specifies otherwise. Your duaghter does not need a conservator if she is 18, unless there are physical/mental conditions that would impact her ability to manage her finances for herself.
