Legal Question in Consumer Law in Michigan

We purchased a vehicle in 2014 from a small dealership. We recently had it appraised and were told it had been in a total loss accident. The dealership did not inform us of this when we bought it. The van has a clean green title too. Is there anything we can do?

Possibly. Who appraised it and what evidence of a crash did they see? Is the person you used licensed? Do you have a police report number? There are some things you can do but you have to get more information on this vehicle. I would use at least two of the vehicle history information services out there and compile data to trace the car's history. Then when you know the registration, auction, title history you can pintpoint the time-frame and order a certified title history from the Michigan Secretary of State. With that information I could figure out whether you have a legal claim or not. I would guess that if you find an insurance company in the chain of title that would be helpful. That or it could have been a curbstoner or a repair facility that was part of this. It is worth most certainly worth looking into if you want your money back. In some cases you could be entitled to additional damages plus costs and attorney fees (limited cases).
