Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

GMAC Lease

My best friend obtained a car thru GMAC in her grandmother's name. Her grandmother died but she continued to drive the vehicle and then decided to stop paying the lease and blatantly told GMAC she was not going to pay. Now GMAC has issued an order to have the car turned in, which the lease is up anyway. There are lots of damages and and over mileage to the vehicle. Can they go after my best friend for the damages and mileage incurred since they know she has the vehicle?
