Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan
Used a payday loan service in 2013. I fully intended to pay it back but lost my job soon after. After a while, I was receiving so many overdraft charges that I closed my account. Then I honestly forgot about it. Received a call today from a man that said that if I don't pay the money I owe within two hours, he'll file charges against me and I'll have a warrant for my arrest. I would still have to pay it and get 90 days in jail! It didn't sound right to me but I don't want to find out the hard way. I have no criminal history and am in Michigan

It's a scam. They have no idea you even have the loan. Google payday loan scam.
I second that response. It is illegal in the State of Michigan for any payday lender or debt collector to threaten jail for non-payment. You need to contact the police or FBI and put pressure on them to stop these people. This is an area where there is almost a 100% rate of fraud. Some are legitimate in that money might be owed but even in those cases, the debt collector typically threatens arrest (illegal) and threatens to sue when they never do so and have no intent to do so (also illegal).
