Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
attorney disclosure
I hired a criminal attorney as a referral for my son....on our second meeting my attorney looked yellow and his stomach was swollen and I thought something was wrong but he denied it. He told me it would be one fee if my son went to trial or if we plea bargained, he gave me a certain in which I was to pay the balance..which I did. The day after I made my final payment...he told me my son had 24 hours to decide on a plea bargin and he wasn't the one doing the negotiating...his assistant was...we told him we were not accepting the plea bargin. At which point, he and his assistant started becoming demanding. We are supposed to go to court May 5th to suppress my sons statement because he asked for an attorney for 3 days before he finally made a statement, but my attorney went on vacation for two weeks, which means he will be back May 4th. After very much pleading and begging and just plain persistance, my attorney called me and told me he is in the hospital getting a kidney transplant...I was shocked...was he supposed to reveal this to me when we hired him..now what do we do...please help me

Re: attorney disclosure
In what county are you? In what county is your son's case? What is the name of the judge that is handling your son's case? And what is your son charged with?
Please call me. It is easier to talk for a few minutes than to write several emails.

It may be time to get a different attorney who actually represents you, plus you may be able to get your money back if you have already paid a retainer. If you need help with this, contact my office at [email protected]
