Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

Child Assault

My question is what to do when a child in my son school, cut his pants with sharp scissors that the principal found and could have cut him. The principal was told about it and is trying to cover-up the whole situation. The principal would not investigate what happened. My son identified the child that cut the pants twice, once by picture and once by going to the class room. But still the principal will not do anything. What can I do?

Re: Child Assault

What you need to do is go to the police and file a report of the activities occurring at school. I am a defense lawyer, so you do not need my services; but the prosecutor will serve as your "lawyer" if he/she decides to prosecute the offender. However, before going to the police, my first suggestion is that you contact the child's parents and let them know what happened. Hopefully, they will look into it and all can be resolved without involving the court. The saddest case I ever had involved a 7-year old girl accused of "stealing" a gameboy that she denies and the case went all the way to a trial. Just tells me that parents are not in touch with their children.
