Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
I contacted a police officer to help retrieve some property of mine and the person that had the property said I had sold it to them. Now the police refise to give the property back to me even though I have a receipt for the property.

It sounds like you will have to file a civil suit. The police aren't going to intervene absent evidence of a crime. Merely having someone else's property usually isn't a crime, and I note that you don't claim the property was actually stolen.
