Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
I'm currently facing charges for failure to register as a sex offender 2nd offense in Kent County Michigan. I received the first charge recent to the second and I plead guilty to the first because I was in fact guilty and I paid a fine and went on my way. I have been absconding from the PR bond I received over four years ago for the 2nd offense and just about a week ago, I drove from my current home in central Pennsylvania to west Michigan here and I turned myself over to the US Marshals who were wonderful to deal with in the situation. I was booked into the Kent County Jail on the one warrant and I then proceeded to arraignment and then posted the $5,000.00 bond that the circuit court judge set for me. I am at a loss as to what I do now. I was registered before I left Michigan to move to PA and several months had expired and I still had heard nothing before I left after I had was originally charged and released on the PR bond. Not to mention the fact that when I was brought up on these charges originally, I was in fact homeless. How do you register when you have no address to report? I feel as though I have a long road ahead of me in this situation. Do they even have grounds to prosecute me here? What should I do? How should I handle this?

You should have had an attorney for the first charge that you've pled guilty to. You should have an experienced attorney help you with the second case. You can read more at:
