Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

My mother is a registered alien of the U. S. but her registration has expired.

She has been in this country for about 40 years since she came with my father from Korea,he was in the Air Force. She is currenty being transported to Michigan on a fugitive warrant.I do not know what her warrant is for someone mentioned bad checks. She stated the lawyer from the state when she saw the fugitive judge stated if she didn't pay she could be sent back to Korea. Is that true?

Should I try to find a lawyer before I know what the charges are?

Right now it doesn't matter what the charges are. It's not the Michigan penal system she needs to worry about, it's U.S. Homeland Security. She needs a lawyer BEFORE she talks to anyone else. If convicted of certain felonies, she becomes deportable to her country of origin.
