Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

Polygraph test

18 months ago my wife dissapeared with out a trace. A differant Det. was assigned the case, and wants me to take a polygraph now. I had nothing to do with her dissapearence, I was in another state( this is verifiable) at the time. If I was your client would you advise me to take or not take this test.

Re: Polygraph test

The best practice is to do a private run through of your own with a private examiner, procured by A LAWYER HIRED TO REPRESENT YOU. Sometimes your lawyer can get a stipulation to certain questions which approximate the questions the examiner will ask you they will ask of you. DO NOT DO A POLYGRAPH UNREPRESENTED BY EXPERIENCED COUNSEL WHO KNOWS THE LAW AND THE SCIENCE BEHIND IT. Hire a lawyer immediately its a murder case right? !!!

Re: Polygraph test

If you were my client I'd know much more about the case and would then have some basis on which to base my advice. You wouldn't want a doctor to diagnose your illness on the internet and to give you medical advice without examining you. You shouldn't accept legal advice from anyone that isn't fully informed about your case.

Re: Polygraph test

I don't need to know the facts of your case, but I would never agree to a polygraph. Its not 100%, so if you "fail" it you are screwed, but if you pass it, the police will not stop looking at you.
