Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

Removing a 8 year old posession of marijuana charge

I had a possession of marijuana (2 seeds and a stem) charge 8 years ago. I was young and scared so I didn't get a lawyer I knew nothing of the 24-11. I spent 18 months on probabtion and 72hrs. in jail. Since then I have been in no trouble at all. I'm trying to get financial aid to go back to school but I'm not eligible if the possession is still on my record. I was told by a police officer that for a couple hundred $ I could get a lawyer and get it removed (I don't have that $)Can I get it removed without a lawyer? What steps do I have to take?

You can do it yourself. The steps involved can be found on-line. Make sure you get a certified criminal history and that is the only conviction you have. Best of luck!! Eric I. Kutinsky, Esq.
