I am 20 years old and I am from Michigan. In November of 2010 I was charged with an MIP for consumption of alcohol (I blew a 0.05). My court date is in January and I will be 21 in May. I was wondering how much would the fine be and also what other consequences would happen for me. This is my first offense I have never been into trouble before. Please help me...

You should never go to court on a criminal case unrepresented. Hire the best lawyer you can afford. As a first offender, you are probably not at risk for jail, but a skilled attorney could try and keep it off your criminal record. Visit kliszlaw.com to discuss further. Tim Klisz
Contrary to the above attorney's advice, there is no jail time on a MIP charge-first offense. Depending on who your Judge is, you can expect fines, costs and/or probation. If you qualify, there are also diversion programs available to you and also ways to keep your record clean. If you can afford to hire an attorney, you should do so and not have any regrets later in your adult live. Good luck to you. The statutory fine is $100. There is no jail time permitted for a first offense. There is also a statutory provision in the MIP law for a diversion which will keep this off your record. A short period of probation may be ordered.

However, sometimes the simplest solutions to relatively simple misdemeanors can go awry.
At least get a court appointed lawyer. The cost is nominal.
