Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Child support

Does my ex-wife re-marrying affect my child support payments? Will my remarrying? my ex-wife has claimed one of our children as a dependent on her new husband's income taxes-as long as he is not responsible for support, can she she do that? (she does not work).

Re: Child support

Remarriage will not affect support obligations as they still are your kids and her kids. She probably filed a joint tax return with the new husband and that is why she took the child as a dependent. Many times, a well drafted divorce judgment, takes such dependency exemptions into account. William S. Stern
