contesting a divorce

My wife served me w/divorce papers, I never responded. I just received a letter for me to appear in court for a default marriage proceedings. What exactly do I need to do in order for me to contest. Due I just show up and say I would like to contest or do I have to file something.

You should get a lawyer. Now the lawyer will have to make a motion (request) to set aside the default. The judge may or may not grant the request. Technically, the judge is not supposed to set it aside unless you have real good cause not to answer the divorce lawsuit. If he does set it aside, he is supposed to assess costs, meaning you will have to pay your wife's attorney some money. You should get a lawyer. Call me if you wish to discuss it at 248-353-9400.
