Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

A divirced mother has planned a long weekend during her non-parenting weekend. Her child who is 16 yrs old wants to come home on Sunday instead of staying with her father stating her school schedule is disrupted too much in doing so. She will have a list of people to call in case there is any issues, she plans to come home, go to bed and go to school the next day. Question: Is she of age in the State of Michigan to stay home alone for that evening?

Michigan law does not specify the age at which children can spend the night alone. Each child is different and the parents are best qualified to make that decision.
