Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
My girlfriend has been divorced for three years. In her papers it states "she cannot allow an adult of the opposite sex to spend the night that is not a relative or spouse". We have been dating 6 months and have had sleep overs lately and now her ex is threatening to, in his words, file a contempt of court motion. What does this mean? Also is this legal that the courts can tell you how to live your life? She is a terrific mother and the kids are more than happy and taken care of. At what point can she live her life? And how do we court and try to move towards a new life together if the courts can tell us to not be together?

You will be stuck with what is in the judgment. To solve the problem, get married.
