Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
Do I need a lawyer for a ''De Novo'' hearing with the judge?
I have sole physical custody of my daughter. My Ex-husband has not been paying his share of the school bill nor using his parenting time per the order. I filed a motion to change the order and request child support - The FOC referred it for an investigation again. We have already been through that once, and it came back in my favor. I objected to the FOC rec. and requested a De Novo hearing- do I need a lawyer to attend that with me? Am I insulting the judge by appearing alone?
Thank you -
Mom who seeks best interest of her child.

As the other attorney said, you don't "need" a lawyer. However, you sure are better off with an experienced lawyer in your corner. Like I always tell people, great athletes make it look easy.

Greetings; First, WHY did you object to the recommendation when it was in your favor?? This makes no sense. You will not insult the judge by appearing without an attorney. However, an experienced attorney can be of great assistance in these matters. I suggest you hire one if you are really serious about protecting your rights. Atty. Trichler; www.trichler.com
