Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Requesting reimbursement of medical bills for children from ex-husband.

I have requested reimbursement of medical expenses paid for by me. Some of the bills are over a year old, is there a time limit on requesting reimbursement from an ex-spouse? He advises me there is a law stating any bill older than 6 months need not be paid if not received in a timely fashion, is this true???

First of all, I would have to look at your divorce Judgment to accurately answer your question. However, requests for reimbursement should be done as soon as possible, although I feel you will get money from your Ex. If he does not pay, I would request a Show Cause in the Friend of the Court in front of the Referee to request payment of those medical expenses.
