Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan
Adult Neighbor Harrassing Children
Our female neighbor has been harrassing my husband and I for the past year and a half by phone and in our yard. We have ignored her up until lately when her target has been our children. She tells them they have a sad family, that we are nasty neighbors, that their parents are mean, uncristian, and tells them it's too bad they can't come over and play, ride bikes with them, go swimming in their pool, etc. I could handle the harrassment when it was targeted at me but now that she is targeting my children I am very concerned. We have called the police a few times but they tell us there is nothing we can do but ignore her. My children have spent the majority of their summer vacation indoors because she harrasses them every time they are in the yard. Please tell me if there is an action I can take to protect my children from this.

Check with your local courthouse to see if the judge will issue a personal protection order. You don't need a lawyer for this but it is questionable as to whether the court will intercede. Bill Stern
