If the complainent is not the criminal party-could the case be paid on contingency in Michigan?

Your question makes no sense. In any criminal case, there is a complainant.Perhaps you are mixing up a witness with the complainant. I believe that it is unethical to take a criminal case on a contingency but I am not sure why.
